Overview

The EA888 Gen3 GTI builds oil temperature quickly during extended hard use or track driving. The factory cooling system is designed around road use conditions; this 13-row oil cooler kit adds an additional heat exchange circuit to maintain more stable oil temperatures when the car is driven harder.

Oil temperature is the metric track days actually punish — a hot lap is fine, three hot laps back to back is where the factory cooling system runs out of margin. A dedicated 13-row core is cheap insurance against the kind of thermal stress that shortens an engine's life long before it shows up as a power number.

Note: this oil cooler kit fits the shared MQB AWD 2.0T platform across Golf GTI/R MK7 and A3/S3 8V — same engine, same mounting. It does not fit MK8 Golf/GTI/R or Audi 8Y platform vehicles, which use a different generation engine and cooling circuit.
