The factory MK8 GTI intercooler handles stock cooling demands adequately, but heat soak on tuned applications or in warm conditions limits its effectiveness. This bar and plate intercooler provides improved cooling capacity over the OEM unit — keeping intake temperatures more controlled during harder driving.

Note: this intercooler fits the shared MQB Evo platform across Golf GTI/R MK8 and A3/S3 8Y — same engine bay, same fit. It does not fit MK7 Golf or Audi 8V platform vehicles, which use an earlier-generation intercooler; see our separate MK7/8V intercooler for those models.
