The EA888 Gen3 factory downpipe includes a pre-catalyst that restricts exhaust flow from the IS38 or IS20 turbocharger. This catless downpipe removes that restriction — directly improving turbo spool, reducing exhaust back pressure, and providing the exhaust path needed for serious tuned EA888 Gen3 builds.
SS304 stainless steel, sized to replace the factory pre-cat section. Designed for direct replacement on EA888 Gen3 applications running the IS38 turbocharger.
A catless downpipe is the clearest sign a build has moved past stock thinking — every gram of post-turbo restriction gone, replaced with nothing but free-flowing stainless. On the EA888 Gen3, that means the turbo spools sooner and the exhaust note loses its factory-filtered edge. It's a road-and-track piece, not a daily-comfort one — pair it with a tune to get the most from it.

Note: downpipe fitment follows engine output/turbo specification rather than chassis alone — Golf R, S3 8V and TTS 8V share the same higher-output EA888 Gen3 tune (IS38) and downpipe flange. This kit does not fit Golf GTI or Audi A3/TT 8V, which use a different downpipe specification (see our separate GTI/A3 kit), nor MK8 Golf or Audi 8Y platform vehicles.
