Overview

The EA888 Gen3 platform runs a factory intake system that introduces more restriction than is necessary. As boost demand increases — whether from a tune or harder driving — the OEM assembly becomes a bottleneck. This aluminium intake provides a more direct path to the IS38 or IS20 turbocharger, improving induction sound and supporting the airflow requirements of modified builds.

Engineering Focus

Built from 6061 aluminium with a 3-inch primary tube — larger than the factory assembly — this intake system is well-suited to both stage 1 applications and builds running more aggressive tunes. Fits the EA888 Gen3 in both 1.8T and 2.0T configurations.

Built for the Drive, Not Just the Dyno

The factory intake on the EA888 Gen3 was sized for cabin refinement, not for feeding an IS38 or IS20 under load. A larger primary tube is the simplest fix in the book — more air in means more air the turbo can use, and a sharper induction note as a side effect.

Note: this intake fits the shared MQB AWD 2.0T platform across Golf GTI/R MK7 and A3/S3/TT/TTS 8V — same engine bay, same fit. It does not fit MK8 Golf/GTI/R or Audi 8Y platform vehicles, which use a different generation intake.
