The F8X S55 uses a water-cooled charge cooling system with an air-to-water intercooler in the intake manifold. This intercooler kit replaces the factory core with an improved unit, supporting better heat exchange efficiency under sustained hard driving.
The S55's water-to-air charge cooling system is more compact than a traditional front-mount, but it has the same heat soak ceiling — the factory core just runs out of capacity sooner under sustained load. A larger core buys back that margin precisely where back-to-back pulls start to feel flat.
